Hola!
You guys, I am literally living through a psychological thriller. My European summer has begun, and so far it is a nightmare. It's hot, it's humid, and while my skin is glowing—obviously—my hair is absolutely not behaving. It’s frizzing, and not in a way that is sexy, carefree, or tousled à la Olivia Rodrigo. Any product recs? Please DM me immediately.
That's not even the problem. The real terror is my hotel’s wifi. I was pulling up, completely exhausted, just ready to disassociate on the roof deck with a mezcalita and polish my latest piece on Ariana Grande’s new single when a van took out the whole telephone pole that connected my gorgeous little casita to the world. My publishing schedule for the month is ruined. Like I said, a nightmare. But I'll be doing half-off subscriptions this month, which is such a steal I highly recommend following so you don't miss the code. Also, so much love to my new brand partners (we’re currently in discussions, but the vibe is very aligned) who have been so understanding through the trials and tribulations of publishing as a small, independent business creator abroad.
June's theme is Summer Camp. I attended my first at the tender age of thirteen. it was really basic, just a little private island with boutique catering and totally normal, everyday stuff. You know, horseback riding, surf lessons, writing workshops, etc. My cabin-mate was sixteen-year-old Janna (yawn-nuh) who loved Miley Cyrus and talking excessively about her situationship three cabins down. He was cute for her I guess. The next summer I had to get serious about my acting career, no more frolicking in the horse paddock with random brunettes called Ian or Sawyer. It was off to the Adirondacks for an intensive of drama classes, audition prep, and an end-of-summer production of The Taming of the Shrew. I was completely miscast, but that's for another time.
Personal experiences could never give me what the media could. The Parent Trap, Wet Hot American Summer, Theater Camp, Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2. We've been blessed through the years with a panache of summery camp content to feed our souls and fuel our fantasies, so this month we're unpacking the absolute best of it. It's a classic setting for a reason.
Also coming in June: Artist dads! Packing essentials! An anatomy of Pete Davidson! Plus June must-reads, must-watches, and must-listen-to's from real human tastemakers.
Bisous!
Nicole 💛
